Grimes Halfway Done With Chill, Synthy New Album

Grimes has hinted that she's nearly finished recording her new album describing it as "synthy and chilled".

Grimes (Claire Boucher) has revealed that she is working on new music just after finishing her fourth album Art Angels which was released last year.

In an interview with Rolling Stone recently, she said: "I'm actually halfway done with a new record. I'm not committing to anything but I have a bunch of b-sides I want to finish. Plus, I've been making a bit of new music."

She went on to suggest that her next release will be a collection a b-sides which were recorded during the making of Art Angels. "You know how Lana Del Rey released Paradise Edition after Born To Die? It would be like that. There are songs I seriously considered for Art Angels, but they fucked with the momentum when I tried to put them on the record." She continued: "This would be more chill vibes, downtempo's and synthy shit."

Stone Roses to release third album?

Stone Roses to Release Third Album?

Reports have emerged suggesting that The Stone Roses are close to releasing a long-awaited third album.

In 2011 the Manchester band reformed for a series of shows across the world, most famously at Heaton Park in Manchester. In late 2015 the group announced that they are to headline T in The Park 2016 as well as some dates at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

These reports of a third album have been given some substance. The Mirror reports that "Ian Brown and the lads have been busy getting their next album ready. It will be album number three. It’s a long time coming, but they feel the time is right now. They’ve been back in the studio. Everyone is very excited about it."

Friend of the band Noel Gallagher also stated that "the roses are blooming" which sent fans and the media into frenzies. Nothing is set in stone yet however. More on this as it happens.

Eagulls Announcements

Eagulls Announcements

This week, Leeds based post-punk outfit Eagulls treated us to a treble of announcements. First of all they have announced that their second album entitled 'Ullages' which will be released on the 13th of May 2016 on Partisan Records. Secondly, they have announced a series of gigs in support of this new release (see below) up and down the UK showcasing this new album. And last but by no means least, they have released a brand new song taken from the album. The track like 'Lemontrees' before it shows Eagulls in a new, softer light. "My Life In Rewind" is draped in shimmering guitar sounds reminiscent of The Cure and with a much mellower vocal and leisurely pace, it's nowhere near as harsh as anything from the bands first album.

In 2016 Eagulls will play:

Jake Bugg Hints About New Music

Jake Bugg Hints at New Music

Sing/songwriter Jake Bugg today released an email which seriously hints that he is about to release new music.

The email simply stated "NEW MUSIC COMING SOON. WATCH THIS SPACE" and revealed a picture of Bugg (below) in the studio.

If the Nottingham-born singer was to release new music this year, it would be his first since 2013 when his second full length album 'Shangri La' hit the shelves. We don't know for sure if new music is to be released this year, but the timing of this email suggests that it is very likely. And, could "Watch This Space" be a potential album title? We aren't going to go all Kanye and start guessing the name, but the emailing definitely fuelled speculation.

Bugg is said to be self-producing his third album after his label rejected the idea and instead wanted demos. "Weirdly enough, the label preferred my recordings to [the producer] I'd been recording with," he told the BBC. "It wasn't my choice, it was their choice - so they [the demos] must be ok. I've been mixing them and making them sound real sharp and real nice."
The singer had previously been in the studio with Beastie Boys star Mike D.
