Jake Bugg Releases "On My One"
Just as we predicted yesterday. Jake Bugg has released a brand new track today entitled "On My One". The song is the first we have heard from Bugg since 2013's 'Shangri La' and is the first recorded by Bigg on his own after his label rejected his third album.
The track itself see's Bugg return to his critically acclaimed debut album in terms of musical style. It's just his voice, an acoustic guitar and the whisper of drums. The song talks about Bugg's relentless touring schedule, and not knowing where to call home. "Three years on the road, four hundred shows, where do I call home, no place to go". It has a strong western feel to it with the sunset drenched sound Bugg gets from his acoustic guitar. It's simplicity paves the way for Bugg's voice to shine, which again is back to form after some said his voice on 'Shangri-La' lacked a bit of ruthlessness. It sounds like you would hear it over the top of a Clint Eastwood film set in the wild west. This clearly isn't the lead single from Bugg's third album, but it leads nicely into what we can expect.
