Trampolene Live at The Garage

Gig Review: Trampolene live at The Garage

A Welsh three piece visit the Garage in North London filling the room with their heavy riffs and ferocious sound, no, it's not Stereophonics, but fantastic up and coming band Trampolene!

Trampolene are from Swansea, Wales and played recently at The Garage in North London.

"Guitar music is dying out" is a quote that has been used many times recently by music critics and members of certain bands, most notably Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys) Clearly, nobody has mentioned this quote to Trampolene who brought an absolute wall of noise and a "fuck you" to that particular quote. The first time I heard them was when they were part of radio station XFM's great expectations for 2014 and from the powerful riff of the superb "you do nothing me" I immediately drew comparisons to the likes of Oasis and Kasabian. The reason Oasis come to mind is because of the snarl of vocalist Jack Jones which was present throughout the gig which only adds to the attitude and power of the band! And the Kasabian comparison comes about because of the big riffs and thunderous drums! To witness this explosion of superb riffs, big bass lines and thunderous drums you had to have been at The Garage, well, more specifically Upstairs at the Garage which a few people seems puzzled by including front-man Jack, who told me he almost didn't get in to his own gig and thankfully he did!

As Trampolene are about to come on stage the room is not entirely full to slight disappointment but there were still a fair amount of people who came out to see this great up and coming band. As the setlist begins this "wall of noise" as mentioned earlier becomes an absolute landslide. A particular highlight was the fact their sound doesn't alter from their records. The only thing added was, you guessed it, more noise! The lack of people did not stop Trampolene from putting on a superb set, everything was played from the awesome Alcohol Kiss, Adrenaline and You Do Nothing For Me all of the songs had presence and a sense "are you paying attention to this?, If not you should be" And that's what I think set Trampolene apart from other rock and indie bands around now which is the need and want to be counted as part of musics elite. A song that was superb to hear live was the vigorous "I Don't Know" which sounded like pure punk and then some!

As a band who are just starting out, the band have great stage presence and they have the riffs to go with it, which many would argee is the perfect concoction greatness. The gig was fantastic and the intimacy likewise was great. I would highly recommend that people head out and catch Trampolene live, they along with many others are proving that guitar music is not dead and will always be around and hopefully bands like Trampolene will gain a cult status in years to come they really do have that feel about them!
